For any father, seeing his daughter walk the aisle in an elegant wedding gown and exchange wedding vows with the man of her choosing is probably one of the most memorable moments in his life. Painful and sad as it may be, the father of the bride, during his daughter’s wedding day, must entrust her to the man of her choosing – the man with whom she wishes to spend the rest of her life and the man who will replace him as the number one guy in his daughter’s life. Here, now, is a sample speech by father of the bride.

Do not forget to include a warm greeting to your guests, as well as a short introduction about yourself in the first part of your wedding speech. Moreover, mention how you are related to the bride. You may say something that goes like this: “A pleasant afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! I’m pretty sure that some of you don’t recognize this old and wrinkled face, and so for your benefit, please allow me to introduce myself. I am the bride’s proud father.”

As you will notice, the beginning of the speech is as warm and as welcoming as possible. In addition, you have to make sure that your speech is appropriate for the guests who are present during the reception. If, for example, the bride and the groom chose to hold a very casual reception, then you have to clarify this with the guests and with the other speakers.

After welcoming the guests, thank them for their presence by saying “Ladies and gentlemen, I am privileged to stand here in front of all of you to extend our deepest gratitude on behalf of the bride and the groom to all of you for being here. To all of the guests, thank you very much for finding the time to be here and to share this wonderful day with us. Thank you for bearing witness to this momentous occasion. Family, friends, and other guests, I know that this day wouldn’t be as memorable and as joyous for the newly wed couple if you were not here to share it with them.”

“And now, to the bride and groom, this I say to you – congratulations! I am truly happy to see you both so deeply in love with each other. My only hope is that the depth of your love will remain over the years, and that your relationship will continue to grow stronger through all the trials and adversities. With that being said, I now propose a toast. To the bride and groom!”
